Over time the painted finish on wooden blinds can peel and flake, especially if blinds are mounted in a bathroom or kitchen. Here's how to give wooden blinds a makeover.
Humidity in a bathroom or kitchen can lead to the painted finish on a wooden blind peeling or flaking off. Rather than have to replace these blinds with new ones, visit your local Builders store and grab a can of Rust-Oleum spray paint in your choice of colour to give wooden blinds a quick and easy makeover.
If you are not able to hang the blinds up somewhere to make spray painting easier, cover a work surface with newspaper and lay the blinds flat on top of this.
Give all the wood slats a light sanding with 180-grit sandpaper before painting and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Arrange the wood slats in one direction in order to spray paint one side of the slats. Leave the paint to dry properly for an hour and then turn over to repeat the spraying process on the other side.
Make sure that you allow the spray painted slats to dry properly before you move them around.
Place the slats upright if you need to cover any missing paint on the edges.
Once dry, re-hang your painted wooden blinds.
