I first went to Elands Bay, a small seaside town 220km north of Cape Town, in the early 1980s as a student. At the time of that trip, which was spent camping on the dunes around Baboon Point, surfing the point and diving out huge crayfish for the pot, I would not have guessed that I might one day lay claim to a little piece of this special place.
